From the East

Brothers and Guests,

I thank the Brothers of Harmony Lodge No. 67 for selecting me as your Worshipful Master for 2010.

As we finish up the first half of my first year in the East, I am pleased to report that our annual Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast was once again a great success.  We served over 250 breakfasts, including more than 35 free meals to our veterans.  Harmony was ably assisted by members of the United Methodist Church of New Canaan, thanks to the efforts of Bill and Laura Walbert, and by the dancers from the New England Academy of Dance, thanks to the efforts of Brother Ted Thomas.  Harmony will be making two $1,500 contributions, one to The Getabout Inc. and one to the Day Care Center of New Canaan from the proceeds.

The Harmony Lodge Scholarship Program, which we started last year, is once again making two $1,000 awards to a graduating male and graduating female student from New Canaan High School.  The awards are based on demonstrated citizenship and financial need, and the recipients are chosen in conjunction with the staff from NCHS.  The presentations will be made on Friday, June 4th.

Our last meeting in June (the 15th) will be our last until we resume on Tuesday, September 7th.  We have two EAs that once they show their proficiency will be passed to the degree of a Fellowcraft, which I hope will occur sooner rather than later.

Harmony's 2nd Annual 9-11 Table Lodge is scheduled for Saturday September 11th.  Last year's event was such fun that all agreed that we should hold the Table Lodge each year, and dedicate the evenings to the tragic events that occurred on September 11, 2001. I will be sending out more information regarding the timing and cost of the 9-11 Table Lodge over the summer, and I hope to see many Harmony and District 1 Brothers in attendance.

Fraternally,

Chris
